This is the short form of our submissions guidelines. The longer form is available at Additional Guidance.
Drollerie Press is now closed for submissions. When we are open, we accept:
- Short stories from 5,000 to 20,000 words
- Novellas between 20,001 to about 50,000 words
- and Novels, between about 50,001 to 85,000 or more words
We are interested in exploring the possibility of publishing non-fiction that examines mythic fiction, what myth means to us, myth from a non-western perspective, or other issues and themes that relate to our mission. If you have an idea, please query by email or upload a proposal online.
Please note: All submissions sent through March 2009 have received a response. If you have not received a response to your submission sent prior to April 1, 2009, please inquire.

If you have difficulty with the online submission form, please feel free to submit by email, but please state in your email the reason for sending rather than uploading your submission.
We accept agent and author submissions.
We no longer read submissions that do not demonstrate that a reasonable attempt has been made to follow our guidelines.
Formatting Your Submission
Provide a cover letter, synopsis, and the first three and final chapter of your longer work as a rich text format file. Include your email address. Provide the submission in 12 pt. Courier or Courier New font, double-spaced. Put a page break between each element (cover, synopsis, chapters). Do not use the space bar to break lines or indent paragraphs. Provide the same, but the entire manuscript if your work is shorter than 20,000 words.
Name your file by your last name, one word from the title of the work, the first three or four letters of the imprint to which you think it best suited, and whether or not it is a full or partial manuscript in the following format:lastname.title.imprint.full.rtf or lastname.title.imprint.partial.rtf.
Upload the file and include your name, email address, and submission: IMPRINT in the subject line on the contact form.

Expressions: World/Multicultural Speculative Fiction written by or about one or more persons of color and/or from a non-western and/or non-caucasian perspective.

Illuminated Press: Inspirational/Spiritual Fiction.

The Submissions Process
When we receive your submission, it is placed in the queue and read in order of receipt. We are still somewhat behind, unfortunately, and are currently working at a turnaround time of about 6 months. We hope to improve drastically as we put our new system into place.
