We had a lovely turnout for this event, and so, when it was time to draw the name from the big black hat of names-to-be-drawn, and we drew that one (who won ten books and shall be named later), there were still many, many names floating around in the hat. There were probably other things in the hat, but I only saw the names.
My daughter, who is 7, and the only one brave enough here to put her hand into the big black hat of names-to-be-drawn-and-other-things, bravely agreed to stick her hand back in the hat two more times to award a second prize of one book to each of the two persons who belong to those names. When she was done, the other names disappeared in a puff of teeny, green, glowing fireworks, sent into limbo by the black hat of names-to-be-drawn-and-other-things, and so we were done with the drawing.
Two more things I must say. First, the big black hat of names-to-be-drawn-and-other-things has been properly flattened and put away safely in the safe, so there’s no need to fear it will show up at your door, even though it ate your name. Second, all of the winners have until the end of April to choose their books. That means they can wait until our latest batch of new releases comes out before they choose.
I’m sure you all wish you were one of the ones whose names landed in my daughter’s 7 year old hand. I’m sorry we let the hat eat your name.

I will be emailing the winners as soon as I hit post. If you don’t receive the email and the user name to which you belong is listed above, please send me an email instead (deenaATdrolleriepressDOTcom), and I will respond. I would hate for you to lose your prizes to the spam folder. That would mean the big black hat has won.
Yaay to the winners!

A name-eating hat you say? There has *got* to be a story in that. It sort of reminds me of Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (“Spirited Away” in English, I think…).

@dokodemoelisa,
I love Spirited Away…along with all the rest of Miyazaki’s work.
I’m not sure where the hat came from. It just showed up on the doorstep one day. Got the cat’s name before we realized how dangerous it could be.
