Meredith Holmes, UnseelieI‘m very pleased to be able to announce that the excerpt of Unseelie is now available.

This book is so much fun. I am really pleased that Meredith Holmes submitted this, her first novel, to us.  And, to encourage those of you who are participating, it started as a Nanowrimo novel.  It’s grown far beyond that first November, though, clocking in at over 125,0000 words, a hugely ambitious project for a new author, and one that is absolutely worthwhile.

Unseelie is the story of the entirely odd romance between an Unseelie prince and a human woman. Alfhild is something of a klutz, and not exactly perfect. She has a big mouth and a stubborn attitude that gets her into a lot of trouble. So much trouble, in fact, that she ends up the bone of contention in a Sidhe civil war.

Her big mouth is what makes the novel, but all the things we love about Faerie live between these pages. What makes them so especially wonderful, though, is that we get to see them through Alfhild’s eyes. These are the stories she grew up with as well, and she’s completely flummoxed that they’re all real. Her wide eyes make the reader see them all with new wonder.

I’m really pleased that we’re able to offer you Unseelie.  It will be released November 18th, but if you would like to win an e-ARC, comment here, at LJ, on Facebook or MySpace. We’ll hold the drawing on Wednesday.  Maybe you can get to know Alfhild before everyone else does.

I had the honor of reading this while it was still in its NaNoWriMo stage, and I am so excited for Miss Holmes! She is certainly a captivating writer– this is one of my favorite fantasy novels of all time, and I’ve not even read the shiny new updated version yet! I can’t wait for the release. :)

Y’all are so sweet! I hope y’all enjoy the finished product that Deena really busted buns on–she’s put so much work into this, my first novel, and helping me make it polished and “readable”! And I hope whoever wins the drawing loves the book as much as I loved writing it!

Argh! Late as usual! I’m bummed I miss the drawing but I’m excited about this story! I LOVE Faery lore and I’m excited by this release.

Miss Holmes, congratulations! What a wonderful triumph. From NaNo to published! Helps us see that perseverance (and lots of hard work) is totally worth it.
